Description

John Byrne and Terry Austin The X-Men #129 Story Page 11 Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost Original Art (Marvel, 1980). A monumental page in X-Men history! Not only is this the page after we see Kitty Pryde for the first time and the third page featuring Emma Frost after we are introduced to the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, but this page also gives readers a clue as to what Kitty's mutant power is, as the teen unknowingly travels from her bedroom to the living room, a precursor to her discovering her "phasing" ability. A great Byrne/Austin page from the issue that introduces these two beloved characters and, along with the first appearances of Sebastian Shaw and the Hellfire Club, kicks off "The Dark Phoenix Saga", the critically-acclaimed storyline which would change the course of Marvel's mutant team for years to come. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, trimmed edges and top left corner, text paste-up in Panel 2, marginal notes, some ink fading, whiteout corrections, page number paste-up at the bottom, with oil staining and light handling wear. Personalized in the bottom margin by writer Chris Claremont. In Very Good condition.
