Alex Raymond Flash Gordon and Jungle Jim Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-22-40 (King Features Syndicate, 1940). This is a rare matched set of Flash Gordon and its companion strip Jungle Jim. From the jungles of India to the work mills of Mongo, Alex Raymond's fantastic art is always a treat for the eye. These strips are produced in ink over graphite on two separate pieces of Bristol that have been affixed to an illustration board with a combined image area of 19.5" x 24.25". They are lightly tanned with some handling. The Flash Gordon strip has several rips, in the top tier panels and in the text paste-up of the bottom tier. There is some soiling and discoloration as well. It is signed "Alex Raymond" in a fancy flourish in the last panel. The Jungle Jim strip is slightly tanned and signed "A.R." in the last panel. It is in Excellent condition. The Flash Gordon strip is in Good condition. Overall, this is a great full Sunday page of rare art.
