Description

George Pratt Enemy Ace: War Idyll Second Printing Cover Painting Original Art (DC, 1991). The second printing of this graphic novel (the softcover version) sported a new cover by the man who painted the entire affair, George Pratt! An imposing and haunting image, Hans von Hammer, the titular Enemy Ace of WWI, stands amidst the fog of war, framed by doves at the top and barbed wire at the bottom. You don't have to look far for the metaphor in that image, because although he was a pilot for the Germans, von Hammer was a man of honor and chivalry who was torn by his duties and the constant death surrounding them. This lovely, and large, piece is produced in oil on stretched canvas that is open front framed in an ornate wooden frame with an image area of 21.5" x 37.5". In Excellent condition.
