Description

Hal Foster Tarzan Panel Signed by Edgar Rice Burroughs Original Art dated 6-16-35 (United Feature Syndicate, 1935). Offered here is a bit of foreshadowing for Hal Foster's future comic strip career. Quickly tiring of the "formulaic" strips he was given to work with, Foster created Prince Valiant, a strip set in the days of King Arthur and his Knights, a strip that would ensure his fame for years to come. This ink on Bristol panel from "The Viking Foe" episode measures approximately 6.5" x 5.5", and aside from overall aging, it's in Very Good condition. Part of a larger page, it was a common practice of the time to cut panels from Sundays and give them to loyal fans. This superb panel has been inscribed and signed by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan.
