Description
Bernie Wrightson Horror and Fantasy Series #9 "Taking No Chances" Painting Original Art (Christopher Enterprises, 1976). A fantastic piece with rich, bright, vibrant colors, it is as fresh and crisp today as it was the day it was painted. The print was a big hit with fans of his work, and as incredible as the detail in the characters and background was, it is even more-so on the actual painted masterpiece. As the artist noted in A Look Back: "They're killing the vampire using every known method. They're driving a stake through his heart, they have a large crucifix, the sun is ready to rise, there is garlic laying around, one of them even has an axe to chop off his head. Anything you can possibly do to a vampire is being done to this one. That is the whole point of the picture -- taking no chances." The image was also included as card #80 in the FPG 1993 Bernie Wrightson: Master of the Macabre trading card set. The painted work is acrylic on 24" x 18.5" illustration board, and is matted with an image area of 21.5" x 15.5".
