Mark Bagley The Amazing Spider-Man #389 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1994). The Chameleon faces grave danger on this striking cover by Spidey stalwart Mark Bagley, an exceptionally rare example of his work where he provided both pencils and inks. Bagley's signature Spider-Man style, characterized by the larger eyes on the mask, dominates the center of the composition, set against the gothic atmosphere of a moonlit cemetery. The terrified Chameleon lies defenseless on the ground as Spider-Man grapples with his rage, his sense of justice, and the lure of vengeance. This dramatic scene portrays Spidey torn between his moral principles and the urge to punish the Chameleon for his heartless scheme -- creating lifelike robotic replicas of Peter's parents, Richard and Mary Parker, and convincing him they were real.This emotionally charged scene is expertly rendered in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board, with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The piece shows whiteout corrections, staining that enters the image area, corner and edge wear, and light handling wear. A white paper overlay is taped to the top of the board. Signed by Bagley in the lower margin and in Very Good condition.
