Description

The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC FN+ 6.5 Off-white pages. It took only one try-out issue for the bigwigs at Marvel (ok, mostly Stan Lee) to decide that giving the spider-bitten teen his own title was a great idea. The try-out, of course, was the one-shot Amazing Fantasy #15, which preceded this first issue by only six months. As with AF#15, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko combined for an iconic cover, with Ditko providing the interior art. The issue had a plethora of firsts: first appearances of John Jameson, J. Jonah Jameson, and the Chameleon, as well as the first-ever Marvel crossover in the form of an appearance by the Fantastic Four. The webslinger's origin is also retold from AF #15. One of the hottest, in-demand issues among collectors in any grade! Overstreet 2013 FN 6.0 value = $5,250; VF 8.0 value = $14,000. CGC census 2/14: 74 in 6.5, 198 higher.
