Description

Daring Mystery Comics #1 (Timely, 1940) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Cream to off-white pages. The incomparable master of the Golden Age cover, Alex Schomburg, renders a death defying bondage action cover for this issue that contains the first appearance of the Fiery Mask. Note the mace-wielding hero as he tries to rescue the buxom and sultry kidnap victim (who just so happens to be tied to the fender of the car) from two hooded villains. Also note the vehicle designs that are indicative of the 1930s and early 1940s science-fiction style. Joe Simon art. A very important and rare book. CGC notes, "1 piece of tape on cover." Overstreet 2015 GD 2.0 value = $2,000; VG 4.0 value = $4,000. CGC census 8/15: 1 in 3.0, 12 higher.
