Alex Schomburg Gangsters At War #27 Cover Original Art (Offspring Press, 1988). An unlikely late-1980s creation that bridges Golden Age spirit with modern rarity. Paratroopers crash through enemy lines in this dynamic Alex Schomburg painting for Gangsters At War #27, produced in 1988 for the Deluxe Edition of Richard Lupoff's The Comic Book Killer. Conceived as a facsimile "lost comic" tied to the novel's plot, the project spoofed 1950s pulp conventions with a fictional 1953 indicia and 10¢ price, though the cover itself does not bear those markings. Opaque watercolor on illustration board with an edge-to-edge image area of 18" x 22"; additional inked text on a vellum overlay. Signed by Schomburg in the image area. Includes a copy of the comic book. In Excellent condition.From the Howard Lowery Collection.
