Jim Lee and Scott Williams Dark Knight III: The Master Race #5 Variant Cover Original Art (DC, 2016). Frank Miller's The Dark Knight series had an impact felt all over the comics world as it reshaped the character with bold storytelling. In 2015, Miller returned with an epic conclusion to the acclaimed 80s title with the four-issue ending, Dark Knight III: Master Race #5.Each issue offered a variety of variant covers from comics heavyweights, and no Modern Age Batman art team carries more weight than Jim Lee and Scott Williams. The Lee/Williams DK3 covers referenced specific moments that weren't shown in the original series, but had to have happened. For this Retailer Variant cover, Lee pays tribute to the climactic (and most memorable) scene in the "Hunt the Dark Knight", as Batman and the Clown Prince of Crime fight in the carnival boat ride and Batsy gouges Joker's eye, only here Lee adds a brilliant touch with a Batarang to the eye. Truly a worthy piece for any Bat-fan's collection.
Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an edge to edge image area of 11" x 17". Both Lee and Williams have signed the reverse side. Art is in Excellent condition.
