Description

Preston Blair Service Ribbin Cover and Preliminary Original Art (Screen Cartoonist Guild, c. 1940s). "Mother always says you have to draw the line somewhere..." This WWII-era publication for Screen Cartoonists Guild Local #852 was full of adult-themed gag cartoons and was sent to guild members serving in the armed forces. Preston Blair was an artist, animator, and film producer.
Included are the graphite prelim piece and the final piece. The prelim is ink, graphite, and color pencil on 14" x 22" paper. It has been folded and creased across the middle, and is in Good Condition.
The finished work was composed in graphite and watercolor on Bristol board with an image area of 13.5" x 21.5". Toned and in Very Good condition. Both pieces are signed in the lower right.
