Description
SpongeBob SquarePants Plankton, SpongeBob, and Squidward Production Cel Group of 3 (Nickelodeon, c. 1999-2000). "Are ya ready kids?" "Ay-ay, Captain!" "I can't hear yoou!" Here's some delightfully nautical nonsense, a trio of original production cels featuring Plankton, SpongeBob, and Squidward each from different Season 1 episodes of the beloved Nicktoon SpongeBob SquarePants. One of Nickelodeon's last originals to premiere in the 1990s (and the only one of the decade still airing with a total of 15 seasons and counting), this long-running series transitioned away from traditional cel animation after its first season. SpongeBob's cel appears in Episode 5's "Home Sweet Pineapple" which debuted on August 14, 1999, and he can be found near the 3:05 timestamp after his pineapple house is consumed by nematodes. Squidward is seen next in Episode 10's "Culture Shock" which first aired on September 18, 1999, spotted near the 9:28 timestamp after he's booed of the stage of his own talent show. Finally Plankton comes from Episode 18's "Walking Small" which premiered on March 22, 2000, with him seen near the 4:22 timestamp demanding SpongeBob be more assertive in his interpersonal interactions. The characters have each been hand-painted to full-figure on trimmed cels and are paired with print backgrounds for display purposes. SpongeBob (who also features hand-inked detail) measures 1.5" x 1.75" on the cel trimmed to 8.75" x 7.75"; Squidward measures 2.75" x 3.5" on the cel trimmed to 10" x 8"; and Plankton measures 1.25" x 2" on the cel trimmed to 7" x 8". With typical handling and edge wear including the noted trimming and minor linework wear, overall this season-spanning trio of main characters is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
