Description
Pluto Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, c.1930s). The 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing in this lot has a fantastic full figure Pluto in action as he chases his next foe. The drawing is centered on the page and is similar to the a few of Pluto's chase sequences in the mid-late 1930s including in Pluto's Judgement Day, Mickey's Kangaroo, The Worm Turns, and Mickey's Parrot. Pluto started his rise to animation stardom in 1930 with his first appearance in The Chain Gang and grew increasingly popular as the years passed and the studio moved into the 1940s. Numerous shorts explored his jealousy of other animals Mickey adopted, his romances with Fifi and other dogs, Donald and his pranks, his feuds with local dogcatchers, fights with other animals from his backyard all the way to Australia, and the cartoon hijinks he got up to with Mickey and the gang. The drawing is numbered 283 in the lower right with a small timing chart circled to the right, Pluto measuring approximately 4.75'' x 4.5''. In Good condition, the lot is exhibits light edge and handling wear, tape at the back edges, a tear at one peghole, and faint age-related toning.Auction Info
