Description
Donald's Nephews Donald Duck Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1938). "Doggone kids!" Donald's nephews Huey, Dewy, and Louie have just barely arrived and are already wreaking havoc on their unsuspecting uncle. Offered in this lot is an original animation drawing featuring Donald as he tried to calm the triplets with some family music therapy. Attempting to cull their ruckus behavior, Donald can be spotted playing the piano near the 3:07 mark, after reading that "Music hath charms to soothe the savage child" in his Modern Child Training book. Rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field animation paper, his full-figured character has an image size of 5" x 8.75" including the piano stool and thought bubble. Not featured in the final screen version of the image, the thought bubble containing "?!" has been added above Donald's head and his right pupil has also been redrawn to give the effect of him breaking the fourth wall. Additionally, the 5-peghole sheet includes color callouts and a production code in the lower right corner. The over 85 year old drawing exhibits typical studio handling and wear including the noted additions/modifications, minor staining/residue from tape, one vertical and two horizontal fold lines, corner creases/tears, and surface wear/smudging.
