Aesop and Son RARE Production Backgrounds from Opening Sequences Group of 2 (Jay Ward, c. 1960s). Sam Clayberger (1926 - 2018) was a freelance background artist/color stylist who worked on many Aesop and Son and Fractured Fairy Tales. Here are two of his very rare original background paintings. The first is from the segment "The Sick Lion" - a 12 field gouache on Bristol board of the pedestal Aesop sits on while Junior sits on the rocks nearby; it can be seen at the 1:11 timestamp and again at 5:10 when the fable is over. The second is a trimmed gouache on Bristol board background with another pedestal stump for Aesop to sit on, and it comes from an unspecified episode. It's trimmed to 11.5" x 8.5". Both original backgrounds have protective acetate overlays and are in Very Good condition with minor handling wear and tack holes in the 12 field painting corners.From the Archive of Sam Clayberger and Michael Kadin.
