Description

Peabody's Improbable History "WABAC Machine" Mr. Peabody and Sherman Limited Edition Cel Artists' Proof AP21/25 (Jay Ward, 1994). Sherman is setting the controls to the WABAC ("Way Back") machine in this splendid 16 field hand-painted limited-edition cel Artists' Proof. This is one of the hardest Peabody and Sherman limited edition cels, long sold-out - we couldn't even find one online - and in our opinion, one of the best! Notice Sherman's hair is back to its original red color; when Jay Ward was running his Dudley Do-Right Emporium, he had Sherman's hair as blond in many of the Scene cels created for the shop (Jay liked mixing the colors around on some of his cartoon creations; he changed Bullwinkle from brown to orange and red). Mr. Peabody's image size is approximately 5.25" x 5.75" while his boy Sherman measures 4.75" x 8.25". The background is a print, added to complete the image. The cel and print background have an overall size of 16.5: x 13.5". This very rare Artists' Proof is #21 of only 25 and includes a Jay Ward Productions seal in the lower right. The condition is Very Good to Fine with light handling wear.
