Description

Dudley Do-Right with Nell and Horse Scene Cel with Painted Background (Jay Ward, c. 1980s). The eternal triangle of Mountie love - clueless but cheerful Dudley Do-Right loves Nell Fenwick, but she prefers his horse! The trio sings a song in this hand-inked, hand-painted Scene cel, originally sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium located in West Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. from 1971 until the doors finally closed for good in 2005. Practically no production cels from this beloved cartoon series exists today, as all Jay Ward cels painted in Mexico were destroyed years ago in some misguided housekeeping; that leaves only Scene cels like this that were sold exclusively at the Emporium. The combined image area measures approximately 6.5" x 4.75". Something that did survive this purge were production backgrounds, and an original background from an unspecified Jay Ward Productions cartoon is placed under this cel for a decidedly unique setup. The cel and background are in a Jay Ward mat, which has an opening of 9" x 7" and an overall mat size of 13" x 10". There's a moisture stain in the upper left corner of the mat. The cel and background are in Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
