Description
Rocket J. Squirrel Scene Cel Signed by June Foray (Jay Ward, 1988/1993). "Hokeysmoke. Again??" The First Lady of Animation and the Lady with 1,000 Voices June Foray (1917 - 2017) added her signature and Rocky catch phrases to this superb hand-inked, hand-painted Scene cel. Scene cels like this were originally sold only at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium located from 1971 until 2005 at 8200 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, next door to Jay Ward Productions studio. We don't know if June was in the shop when she signed this cel on 4/3/1993, but we wouldn't be surprised; Jay was often there himself. The cel has a large image of our high-flying hero, measuring approximately 6" x 5.5" and includes a Jay Ward Productions gold seal with a caricature of Jay, with a 1988 copyright handwritten under the seal. Notice that June inscribed the cel with "hokeysmoke" as one word in her red marker signing, along with one of Rocky's expressions in the "Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat" routine, "Again?" (The question marks look more like exclamation marks, but we're assuming June meant them as questions.) We've added a print background for presentation purposes. The 12 field vertical cel is in Very Good to Fine condition with tape adhesive along the top edge from framing.More information about Jay Ward Studios. See also: Ward Studios Artist.
