Description

Pocket Monsters Kin - VGA 90 NM+/MT Unopened, Game Boy Color Nintendo 1999 JPN. This marks only the fifth time we've had the privilege of offering Pocket Monsters Kin, the Japanese version of Pokémon Gold, at Heritage Auctions. Released a full year before its North American counterpart, this landmark title introduced players to the Johto region, with the majestic Ho-Oh gracing its shimmering cover art. Kin and its counterpart Gin (Gold and Silver) revolutionized the franchise with crucial innovations, including a real-time day-and-night cycle, held items like berries, and the multifunctional Pokégear. These entries also introduced Steel- and Dark-type Pokémon, as well as the series' first-ever breeding mechanic, allowing players to hatch Pokémon at the Day Care. Notably, these were the first Pokémon games designed with backward compatibility in mind, allowing players to trade with Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow.
