Description
Blonde Phantom #22 (Timely, 1949) CGC VG+ 4.5 Off-white to white pages. As a parting shot in this last issue of the title, Timely ran an anti-Wertham (Dr. Fredric Wertham, of course) editorial. Within the next five years, the mean ol' Dr. Wertham managed to take all the fun, gore, and sex out of comics and put most publishers out of business. Charles Nicholas on the cover, and Al Gabriele and Don Rico on the interior were the main artists for this issue. A Sub-Mariner story is also featured. These issues are harder to find than you might think - CGC has certified just three unrestored copies to date, and the highest-graded so far is, at VG/FN 5.0, just barely nicer than our offering. Overstreet 2005 VG 4.0 value = $154. CGC census 7/05: 1 in 4.5, 1 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
