Metropolis est un film dramatique japonais d'animation futuriste dieselpunk de 2001 basé sur le manga du même nom d'Osamu Tezuka de 1949. Le film a été réalisé par Rintaro, écrit par Katsuhiro Otomo, et produit par Madhouse, avec le soutien conceptuel de Tezuka Productions. À Metropolis, cité futuriste, humains et robots cohabitent, en vivant dans des espaces bien délimités. Dans une atmosphère baignée par la musique de jazz, cette cité est le théâtre d'une enquête de police menée par un inspecteur japonais et son jeune neveu, Kenichi. Un savant accusé de trafic d'organes, le docteur Laughton, au service du Duc Red, l'homme le plus puissant de la ville, crée un robot ultra-moderne, ayant l'apparence de la défunte fille du Duc Red, Tima. In Metropolis, a futuristic city, humans and robots coexist, living in well-defined spaces. In an atmosphere bathed in jazz music, this city is the scene of a police investigation led by a Japanese inspector and his young nephew, Kenichi. A scientist accused of organ trafficking, Doctor Laughton, at the service of Duke Red, the most powerful man in town, creates an ultra-modern robot having the appearance of Duke Red's late daughter, Tima.
