Description

Marty Greim and Al Bradford - Scrooge McDuck Illustration Original Art (c. 1960s). Greim, a breakout talent from comics fandom to comics professionalism (e.g., the Thunderbunny series) imagines the Disney character known as Scrooge McDuck resorting to heavy artillery to protect his wealth. No publishing pedigree is documented. The character itself is on-model, in keeping with the Disney-style design, although the facial expression and the stance convey a very un-Disneyfied grim determination. The inking is likely the work of Bradford, Greim's partner in a well-regarded fanzine, Comic Crusader. Ink and wax-pencil colors on off-white coated stock. Dimensions, 6.5" x 7.5". Handling wear, one marginal puncture, and corner-creasing. Very Good condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
