Description

Jiminy Cricket Preliminary Drawings by Ed French for Theme Park Use Group of 12 (Walt Disney, c. 1980s-90s). Pinocchio's official "conscience" is seen in this set of preliminaries by senior Walt Disney World artist Ed French. Jiminy is the mascot for Disney recycling, so his image pops up a lot at the theme parks; these drawings may have been used on signs, in brochures, menus, ads, displays, etc. The drawings are mostly rough images, although some are fairly tight; they are in various sizes and most are in blue pencil. There are seven sheets of 16 field animation paper with six single images (two in red pencil) plus one sheet with ten head shots in black crayon. There are also four more blue pencil images on scraps of paper ranging in size from 5.25" x 6" to 11".75" x 9" (that last page has a great image of Jiminy as a Rock and Roll star playing guitar). The full-figure images have a size range of 3.25" x 5" up to 4.5" x 7.75". Some pages have corner folds; one 16 field sheet has ends folded to protect the image. Condition is Good to Very Good with handling wear.
