Description
Disney Fine Art - Scenic Sketch Art plus Linoleum Block Print Christmas Card Art Group of 3 (Walt Disney, c. 1960s). Three unusual Fine Art items from Disney Studios artists Tony Rizzo and Frank Armitage make up this lot. Anthony "Tony" Rizzo (1919 - 2000) worked for Disney, UPA (Mister Magoo), Hanna-Barbera (Top Cat, Jonny Quest), and Warner Brothers (The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour); he worked on such Disney films as Sleeping Beauty, The Sword in the Stone, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. Here's a small graphite sketch of a river with boats and buildings in the background, a very stylized image done as a preliminary for a painting. The art is on 12" x 9" paper, with an approximate image size of 7.5" x 5". Frank Armitage (1924 - 2016) was an excellent background painter for Disney, working on films like Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and The Jungle Book; he later created murals for Walt Disney World. Here are two original linoleum block prints of Baby Jesus, done as Christmas cards for 1963 (black print on beige paper) and 1965 (brown print on light brown handmade paper). Both are matted, with openings of 7.5" x 9.5", and overall mat sizes of 11" x 14"/ Both prints have two faint fold creases. The Rizzo drawing is in Good condition with edge wear and age-related paper toning; the block prints are in Very Good condition.Auction Info
