Description

Trevor Markwart The Resurrection of Jimber-Jaw Comic Strip Original Art Group of 5 (Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., 2022). Here are five strips representing E.R. Burroughs' satirical tale of a resurrected caveman (known as Jimber-Jaw, after a legendary grizzly bear) -- as adapted for a modern-day Web-comic presentation in serialized form. The story was first published in a 1937 issue of Argosy Weekly magazine, a frequent outlet for Burroughs' Tarzan and SF-based yarns. The Burroughs piece, in turn, inspired many other prehistoric-resurrection stories, including the 1944 film Return of the Ape Man. The five strips included are numbered: #14, 15, 17, 18, and 19. Ink and marker over graphite on Bristol board, each with an image area of 22" x 14". All text is printed paste-up. The compositions show various tipped-in art corrections and retouched areas, with occasional adhesive seams. Average Very Good condition.
