Description

Don Glassford and Michael T. Gilbert Comix Book Column Headings, Spirit/Wraith Cartoon, and Others Original Art Group of 5 (1970s). Glassford's elegant scratchboard logotypes, designed for the Underground magazine Comix Book and an Underground newspaper, distinguish this generous selection. So does Gilbert's drawing of Will Eisner's detective character, the Spirit, pictured with Gilbert's the Wraith, a Spirit-homage character. Two additional pieces (unsigned) are cartoon advertisements for a Milwaukee retail store. Ink and varied additional media on Bristol board. Dimensions, 4.5" x 4" to 7" x 7". Elements of toning and handling wear. Tipped-in art correction appears on the Spirit piece. Average Very Good condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
