Description

Tex Blaisdell Little Orphan Annie Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-13-73 (New York News, Inc., 1973). Harold Gray had demanded, shortly before his death in 1968, that Annie exit with him. Having steered the feature since 1924, Gray saw it as too personal a work to persist without his guidance. The syndicate defied Gray with a shifting procession of successors, starting with Blaisdell. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 16.5" x 5". With moderate toning and handling wear, marginal notes. Signed in last panel, and in Excellent condition.
