Description

The Simpsons Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Publicity Photos Group of 3 (20th Century Fox, 1989). From their inaugural year - here's a rare trio of publicity photos for Fox Broadcasting's newest series The Simpsons. The family was conceived by Matt Groening shortly before a solicitation for a series of animated shorts by producer James L. Brooks. Groening created the dysfunctional family and named the characters after his own family members, substituting Bart for his own name; he thought Simpson was a funny name in that it sounded similar to "simpleton". The shorts were a part of The Tracey Ullman Show. After three seasons, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and became Fox's first series to land in the Top 30. Since its debut on December 17, 1989, it has become the longest-running animated series, longest-running sitcom, and the longest-running scripted primetime television series, both in terms of seasons and number of episodes. These 8" x 10" publicity photos are dated 1989 and were used to promote the new series. We've seen publicity photos but we've never seen any from The Simpsons! In Fine condition.
