Description

Wally Wood Two-Fisted Tales #26 "Hungnam!" Story Page 5 Original Art (EC, 1952). The Korean War was still raging when this issue hit stands, and Harvey Kurtzman devoted it entirely to one of the conflict's darkest chapters. "Hungnam!" recounts the desperate U.N. retreat from the port city, its docks wired to explode as enemy forces closed in, told not from a soldier's view, but through the eyes of a dog left behind. On this page, the pooch sleeps through the final moments of the evacuation, stranded in the crushing silence just before the detonations begin. One of Wally Wood's most powerful war stories, Kurtzman's script captures the human cost in a piercingly simple way: by showing the tragedy through the one innocent who never chose a side and never understood the chaos that abandoned him. Twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 18". Light toning, marginal smudging/soiling, and a small spot stain. In Excellent condition.
