Description

Lucile Stewart The Beauty Quest Daily Comic Strip Original Art (c. 1930s). A pioneering example in the early development of the women-in-comics movement, author Iris Brown's The Beauty Quest provided a generous showcase for Lucile Stewart's robust yet delicate illustrations of career women in a variety of professions. This piece may have been created for inclusion in a book-length project or an early form of a graphic novel, though no publishing pedigree is documented. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 15" x 4.5". Toned, with small stains, small tears at the corners, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
