Description

Mort Walker Beetle Bailey Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-5-69 (King Features Syndicate, 1969). If Sgt. Snorkel says "improvise," you improvise. Beetle takes that order to heart, because nothing's stopping him... except maybe the stop sign he "recruits" for the job. Fun fact: the strip's portly, perpetually grouchy sergeant was inspired by Mort Walker's real-life experience with a sergeant he encountered in St. Louis during World War II, which helped shape the Snorkel-Beetle dynamic. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 20.25" x 13". Toning, with minor foxing throughout image area, glue residue staining with paper remnants in the margins, production oil staining, and creasing/handling wear. Personalized in the lower right. In Very Good condition.
