Description
Art Huhta Wild Rose Consecutive Sunday Comic Strips Original Art Group of 3 (Chicago Tribune, 1947). A homeless hillbilly family has occupied the village's schoolhouse, and the good-for-nothing patriarch has no ambitions to build a new cabin for his brood. Protagonist Wild Rose must present a solution, so she tries a bit of matchmaking to motivate the bum. The story-arc spans 11-9-1947, 11-16-1947, and 11-23-1947. Huhta's backwoods melodrama was a riposte to Al Capp's similarly interested Li'l Abner, with a vivid style of its own. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 21.25" x 9.5". There are color-registration markers within the artwork. Toned and in Very Good condition.More information about Art Huhta. See also: Huhta, Art, Jim Wallace Artist.
