Description

Billy Graham Creepy #46 Cover Preliminary Original Art (Warren, 1972). Billy Graham, the art director behind Warren's horror line, didn't just guide the look of the magazines, he also contributed a wealth of memorable art to Eerie, Creepy, and Vampirella. This splendid small-scale concept is a finished painting in its own right, originally created as a preliminary for a cover that would ultimately be painted by Sanjulián for Creepy #46, despite the piece itself bearing the Eerie title. Graham would later bring that same graphic confidence to Marvel Comics, where he made lasting contributions to Luke Cage, Hero for Hire and The Black Panther. Created in oil (including logotype) on unstretched canvas measuring 8.25" x 11", mounted to a backing board. A protective overlay is taped to the back. Sporadic small blotches in paint, with some glue residue staining to the backing board. Signed by Graham in the lower right and in Very Good condition.
