Description

Don Heck and Bob Smith The Superman Family #196 Supergirl Story Page 8 Original Art (DC, 1979). A delusional Valerie Myles believes herself to have become Supergirl in this bizarre abduction sequence from a story called "Displaced Double Identity." Her captors seem flabbergasted: Is she, or isn't she? Splendid character-study composition from Heck (more often associated with Marvel Comics) and inker Smith (a DC mainstay). The principal villain, here, is Gyronaut, whose costume appears to consist of a collapsible helicopter-rotor. The book was known as Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen until 1974, when it became The Superman Family and allowed Olsen a backup-story role in addition to sections featuring Superboy and Lois Lane, among others. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Moderate toning and handling wear, with white-paint retouching. Very Good condition.
