Description

Sy Barry The Phantom Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-3-88 (King Features Syndicate, 1988). Unable to force their way into the cave, the Great Ones resort to a brutal solution, smoking out the Ghost Who Walks in this Sunday from "The Irrondi and the Great Ones". The Phantom is showcased throughout, but the standout is Panel 6, where he pushes through fire and choking smoke with grim determination, the haze lending him a truly ghostly presence. Ink and white paint highlights over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 15.5" x 10.25". The logo panel is a pasted-on stat with glue residue around the edges. Slight toning, whiteout corrections, production tape in the gutter between the second and third tier of panels, tape over production labels/marks in the margins, staple hole with light rust transfer in the top left corner, discolored printed pasted-up of signature, blue pencil editorial notes/marks, text correction paste-up, light smudging, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
