Description

The Golden Touch Goldie Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1935). Based on the Greek myth "King Midas," this Silly Symphony short was the first cartoon to be directed by Walt Disney since 1929 and ultimately the last. Albert Hurter wrote the story; Fred Moore and Norm Ferguson handled the animation. This is a very rare original animation drawing of Goldie, the elf who grants King Midas the ability to turn anything he touches into Gold. This full-figure, 3.5" x 4.25" image of the rare character is rendered with graphite and colored pencil on 12 field, 2-peghole animation paper. This image can be seen at about the 1:34 mark of the short, as Goldie introduces himself to the King. The drawing also includes color notes to Ink and Paint, and it is numbered in its lower right corner with 69. The rare piece is in Good condition, with some handling and wear, including age-related toning, minor creasing, and a few tears on the paper's edges.
