Description

Eric Stanton Tin Hats Wartime Daily Single Panel Gag dated 4-30-43 Original Art (Bell Syndicate, 1943). Stanton was still in his teens when he placed Tin Hats for syndication as a morale-booster feature for the Allied Forces, often combining combat with slapstick-comedy situations. His ambitions led to formal art-schooling after World War II, complicated by a 1947-1966 affiliation with the bondage-erotica publisher Irving Klaw. Single-panel gag was created in ink and crayon over graphite on 7.5" x 11" Bristol board with an image area of 6" x 7". Some toning, glue residue staining from missing paste-up strip, editorial marks/notes, staining, and edge smudging/handling wear. In Very Good condition.
