Description

Georges Jeanty, Darryl Banks, and Terry Austin Green Lantern #91 Story Page 21 Inscribed Original Art (DC Comics, 1997). Kyle "Green Lantern" Rayner storms the lair of Jack Kirby-created villain Desaad in this decisive tie-in between DC's historic superhero scene with Kirby's Fourth World epic of the 1970s. Kirby, of course, was based at DC when he launched the visionary Fourth World series, but DC's more thorough assimilation of his cosmic concepts proved gradual over the longer term. This sequence represents a chapter in a broader story-arc called Genesis. The posthumous homage to Kirby (1917-1994) could scarcely be more emphatic. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Inscribed at lower right (2002) by co-inker Austin. Excellent condition, with unobtrusive paste-up seams on the dialogue balloons.
