Reunited for a mission to Vietnam in 1967, Nick Fury's Howling Commandos squadron is as irritable as ever. Soldier Dum-Dum Dugan is ready to tackle obnoxious Sgt. Bull McGiveney -- a Fury antagonist from back in the day. Nick is now Col. Nick Fury, promoted in rank to tackle new responsibilities as the most daring Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. This modern-day story dovetails with Fury's spinoff "S.H.I.E.L.D." series in Marvel's Strange Tales. Dependable Marvel workhorse Ayers delivers the tough-guy goods, as usual.
