Description

Tugboat Mickey Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1940). "Oh my gosh! A shipwreck! Ahoy! All hands on deck!" Dressed in a pea coat and captain's hat, Mickey sounds the alarm - the steamship 'Gigantic' has run aground! Mickey is the captain of a tugboat, and Goofy and Donald make up what might be the ineptest pair of crewmen in maritime history. The short was released on 4/26/40 and directed by Clyde Geronimi. This is a sequence of 3 terrific full-body drawings of Mickey that can be seen around the 2:18 point in the film. With a worried look on his face, he stands on the ship's railing and rings the alarm bell furiously. Rendered in graphite and colored pencil, the drawing includes color callouts for the Ink & Paint Department. Image area measures roughly 4.5" x 6.5" on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. Noted in the lower right as 51, 37 and 13. Age-related toning with some smudges and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
