Description

Boo Boo and the V.I.V. Children's Storybook Illustrations by George DeSantis Original Art and Published Book Group of 26 (Hanna-Barbera/Whitman, 1965). While Yogi Bear's away in Canada, Boo Boo is put in charge of getting Jellystone ship-shape for the incoming V.I.V. - a Very Important Visitor, in this sweet Whitman BIG Tell-a-Tale book. The art is by George DeSantis, illustrator of many children's storybooks published by Whitman. Here are twenty-five original artboards from this book, which co-stars Yogi and Ranger Smith. The art is painted with gouache on skimmed illustration boards, including all but two of the book's double-page spreads. Most of the art splits those spreads into two pieces, with the majority of the single-page illustrations on boards measuring 9" x 12.5". The center page spread includes both pages on a single 17.5" x 12.5" board. The title page includes all lettering on an acetate overlay (with some of the hand lettering rubbed off). Many of the pages have mild tape stains from where blocks of text were affixed. A publisher's file copy of the printed book is included. Art condition is Good to Very Good with minor handling, edge wear, and small stains.
