Description

Water Babies Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1935). This cute little water sprite is as happy as can be in this idyllic Wilfred Jackson-directed Silly Symphony. The theatrical short was released on 5/11/1935 and capitalized on the popularity of Kewpie dolls at the time, giving the sprites similar adorable designs. The story followed a group of these lively little guys as they played games in and out of the water. The 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing can be found at about the 6:06 mark when a group of "matador" sprites test their courage against a furious bullfrog, shutting themselves in the frog's pen before they get hurt. This large centered drawing of the water sprite cheerfully clapping while sitting on a flower measures about 5.25'' x 8.25''. The page is noted as 7 in the lower right corner and is rendered in graphite with color pencil. This amazing lot is in Very Good condition with light age-related toning, minor edge and handling wear, and one reinforced peghole.
