Guillaume Sorel L'Île des Morts #5 Acta est Fabula Cover Preliminary Original Art (Vents d'Ouest, 1996). A lone silhouette stands between parting red drapery, blade hidden behind his back, like an actor stepping onstage for the final scene. In this classic "curtain-pull" moment, Sorel perfectly mirrors the title's Acta est Fabula ("The play is over") connotation for the fifth and final issue of the French fantastique horror-suspense series inspired by Arnold Böcklin's The Isle of the Dead. The final published cover follows this preliminary beat for beat, capturing the same theatrical menace and fatal finality. Created in ink and watercolor on paper with an image area of 5.5" x 8".
