Description

Mike Sekowsky and Frank Giacoia Fight the Enemy #3 Complete 10-Page Story "Zack Fight of the Green Berets: The Draftee" Original Art (Tower Comics, 1967). American troops take a stand against against the Viet Cong in a tale that responds to the growing antiwar sentiment of the 1960s. Sekowsky's dynamic pencils feature confrontational action and jungle suspense, expertly inked by Giacoia. An interesting editorial mark (Page 1) challenges an inconsistency in the lettering: A ranking officer is addressed first as "Major," and then as "Lieutenant." Sekowsky, of course, was better known for DC Comics' concurrent Justice League series. The Tower title is not to be confused with Joe Kubert's newspaper feature, Tales of the Green Beret, from the same period. Each page of this Sekowsky-Giacoia collaboration comprises ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 18". Aside from overall paper aging, the pages average Very Good condition.
