Paul Smith - The Spirit, Ellen Dolan and others Character Sketch Illustrations Original Art (c. 2008). Paul Smith brought his trademark clarity and expressive linework to DC's The Spirit in 2008, proving a natural fit for Will Eisner's iconic creation. His knack for capturing personality shines in these character sketches of the Spirit, Ebony White, Commissioner Eustace Dolan, Ellen Dolan, and a rough-looking thug, each rendered with economy and charm. The stylings closely match Smith's published work on the series and likely date from his 2008 run. Created in ink over blue pencil on 6" x 12" Bristol board.
