Description

Sal Buscema and Joe Staton The Avengers #127 Story Pages 15-16 On One Board Original Art (Marvel, 1973). Omega attacks! And the Thing, Mr. Fantastic, Triton, Karnak, the Scarlet Witch and the Vision battle the Inhuman Alpha Primatives. But the biggest surprise of all (literally) is that Omega is actually Ultron-7 in disguise! These pages were created during the very brief period where a managerial edict from Marvel instructed artists to create two pages sideways on a single Bristol board per issue. (For which, they were only paid the single page rate.) This proved to be understandably unpopular with the artists and was quickly abandoned. This wonderful double-page piece was created in ink over blue pencil. The lettering elements are not included as the lettering for these pages were not done directly on the board (since the size of the letters would have been out of whack with the rest of the issue). Again, this is all on one regular-sized board, thus the two pages have a combined image area of 14" x 10". Signed by Sal Buscema at the top of Page 15. In Excellent condition.
