This rare issue of Weekly Young Magazine #24 (1982) features the first appearance of Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo, a landmark debut that helped redefine modern manga. Serialized here for the first time, Akira introduced readers to the dystopian city of Neo-Tokyo and a bold narrative exploring youth unrest, political corruption, and the dangers of unchecked scientific experimentation-themes that would come to define the franchise's lasting cultural impact. The series went on to inspire the groundbreaking 1988 animated film that brought manga and anime to a global audience.
