Description

Carl Barks - Unique "The Mummy's Ring" Prototype (Bowen Design, 1995). This "Sign of the Serpents" gold ring was inspired by the Carl Barks-illustrated Donald Duck story "The Mummy's Ring", first published in 1943 in Four Color #29. This was the first long adventure story to be completely written and drawn by Barks, and remains a fan favorite. The ring, based closely on the original comic book design, features the "Sign of the Serpent" on the face, with a red jewel on either side. The ring was a prototype, and was not mass-produced. Financing for the project was pulled when copyright issues surfaced, making this a unique piece. This single ring was sold by Bowen to a collector to defray extensive design costs. It comes in a custom box in the form of an Egyptian pyramid, with hieroglyphics on the bottom. A video from Bowen is also included. All items are in Excellent condition.
