Description
Pinocchio Rough Animation Drawing Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1940). "I got no strings to hold me down. To make me fret or make me frown." Following the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney's next animated feature, Pinocchio, continued to showcase the spectacular effort of the studio in creating animated films. Debuting in 1940, Pinocchio adapted the children's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi to great success, making about 121 million dollars and remaining one of the best Disney classics. Featured in this lot are three sensational animation drawings from the movie. Two 16-field animation drawings have the wooden puppet with donkey ears, measuring about 4.75" done in graphite and blue pencil. The lot also features a beautiful 12-field animation drawing of Pinocchio in his human form, seen at about the 1:25:27 mark of the movie, as Pinocchio wonders about his transformation into a real human boy. The human Pinocchio measures 4" tall, rendered in graphite and blue pencil on the drawing numbered 31 in the bottom right corner. The 12 field sized animation drawing showcases many animator's notes and a timing chart near the top right corner. Both 16-field animation drawings present significant handling and edge wear with tears along the edges, fold creases, and stains and are in Good condition.
