The Little Mermaid - RIAA Gold, and Platinum Award Presented Feature Animation and Peter Schneider and "For Your Consideration" Notice Group of 3 (Walt Disney, c. 1989). A Gold record award for The Little Mermaid's Sebastian, a Platinum record award for The Little Mermaid Read-Along cassette and a framed "For Your Consideration" notice targeted to the Golden Globe award voters is presented in this lot. "For Your Consideration" is a heading frequently used in advertisements in entertainment trade publications such as Variety, Backstage and The Hollywood Reporter, as well as direct mailers, and events in Los Angeles and Hollywood. They are specifically directed towards members of awards voting groups in the entertainment industry, like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Golden Globes, or the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Each year, the major movie studios spend large sums of money during awards season on "For Your Consideration" ads extolling the virtues of their films or programs released over the previous year. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awards certification are based on the number of albums sold through retail and other ancillary markets; 500,000 units for a Gold album award, 1,000,000 units for Platinum, 2,000,000 units for Multi-Platinum album, and 10,000,000 units for Diamond album status. The RIAA awards are framed to 17" x 21" and the "For Your Consideration" notice is framed to 20" x 14". Frames are sold as-is.
